Packing…

Uh-oh! Major setback! I am a world class packer and travel a lot, domestically and internationally. But Kenya has a ban on plastic bags!!! As in All plastic bags! (Or at least its been interpreted to include Ziploc bags…yes, the ones the TSA requires us to put our toiletries in for the domestic portion of our flight!) I always put everything from Q-tips to my toiletries that might leak into Ziplocks and my shoes in Target bags and take extra ones for dirty laundry. This requires a whole new packing strategy. Stay tuned!

But on a positive note. Packing my clothes was easy. Our Compassion package guide says to dress conservatively, dresses below the knee. So this made it easy. I put all of my dresses that come below my knee … exactly two!… in my suitcase. I guess I’ll just have to re-wear. I did throw in a few pants too. It’s actually easy because the temperatures will be similar to what we have this time of year in Southwest Florida.

My Big Life

Okay, so what’s so big about your life you want to know. I don’t blame you. It seems imperious of me to even start a blog as I’ve thought of doing on many occasions because really what is so special about my life? But here we go. The first thing most people would think of that is BIG in my life is the size of my family, 5 kids ranging from 7-14 to be exact. I’m sure you’ll be hearing about plenty of their antics. And more about my big life…and you can decide for yourself…

In four days my oldest and I are traveling to Kenya to visit Joseph, a boy our family has been sponsoring through Compassion International since my son was 3 and Joseph was 4!
